Direct Inward Dialing (DID) Solution: Brief Guide
What is Direct Inward Dialing (DID)?
Direct Inward Dialing (also Direct Dial In -DDI) is a service that makes incoming calls possible to be directed to a specific telephone number or even SIP extension in the corporate VoIP phone system. In other words, the company can provide individual telephone numbers for its customer to reach a person or workstation. This way, there is no need for a physical phone line for making a call in the PBX.
With DID service you can easily provide a flexible telephone service for customers and employees, as well. When a customer wants to call a call center agent for several times, it is a good idea to ensure a direct phone number to him. This way, he can always make a call to the same agent easily who is familiar with his case and can handle it effectively
Why is it useful to have a direct number and an inside extension parallelly?
It is a good idea to have a direct number that can be used to provide seamless services for your customers, for example, in call centers. All you need is to create system that is based on direct contact options for valued and VIP customers who can always reach the intended person. On the other hand, inside extensions can be available for employees to call each other seamlessly and quickly. With a good phone book they can manage all their contacts effectively. They can call each other by simply dialing the 3-4 digit-extension numbers of co-workers instead of the long phone numbers.
