Description:
The festival of Karwa Chauth is one of the biggest one in India. Karwa Chauth 2017 will be celebrated on 8th October (Sunday). Karwa Chauth usually falls in Oct since it is commemorated in the Hindu month of "Kartik" on the fourth day of Krishna Paksh. This festival is commemorated by married women when they observe a nirjala fast for the security and longevity of their husbands. Unmarried women can also observe this fast for their possible grooms. It is celebrated by married women but many girls of marriageable time also take part in the celebration at their own will Married women observe a fast for husband's longevity while single girls fast to get a good match or get married soon. In this day, married women observe a nirjala vrat to pray for the long life of their husbands. Aside from the famous account of a married female bringing her husband back again from the dead, below is another story about the origin of Karva Chauth. The story that orbits around Karwa Chauth and is generally narrated during the Puja is put with a queen named Veervati. This is how the story goes - Veervati was the only sis among seven brothers; hence she was the most dearly loved in the family. She was married off at a young time; her first Karva Chauth was celebrated at her parents' home. She commenced a strict fast from sunrise, but desperately patiently lay for the moon to come out. Seeing her thirsty and hunger attacked, her brothers couldn't endure it any longer and a new mirror in a peepal tree that made it seem like the phase of the moon had risen. Veervati mistook it for the phase of the moon and broke the fast and as soon as she took the first morsel in her mouth area, she got a meaning from her servants that her husband was deceased. Heartbroken, she wept all night until an empress appeared looking at her and asked her about her concerns. She asked her to observe the Karwa Chauth fast again with dedication and devotion to see her husband in. Veervati observed the fast again, seeing her commitment Yama, the God of death, was forced to bring her husband back again to life.Otherside, you can celebrate this Special day with delicious cake for your lovely Wife.
